Five layers of tokenized finance are being built. None of them replaces the transaction check.
Settlement, identity, and asset verification are moving quickly. Each solves a real infrastructure problem. None answers the commercial question immediately before execution: should this specific transaction proceed?
The stack is becoming real.
These layers verify assets or actors.
Asset verification asks whether the reserve, custody arrangement, or represented claim is real. Identity verification asks which agent or institution is acting and whether it has permission. Transaction risk decisioning asks something different: whether this payment, to this counterparty, using this instruction and evidence, should execute now.
The rail can be sound, the agent can be authorized, and the asset can be real while the beneficiary instruction, counterparty evidence, or commercial documents are wrong.
